About Sports Betting, gambling and wagering
Sports betting is both a game of skill, plus a game of luck. Sports betting is much like poker in that you gather as much information as possible about a situation, and then use this knowledge to your advantage in trying to determine a winner. Just like in poker though, luck is also a factor as well. However, just like with poker, a knowledgable sports better will overcome bad luck over the long run. Being consistent in sports betting is not about luck, it's about knowledge of your sport and the players. You must be disciplined when it comes to betting; amateurs let their emotions dictate the projected outcome of a game; professionals use all of the information in their arsenal to objectively pick a winner. In sports betting, there is a bookmaker, whose job it is to keep both sides of the betting as even as possible. If most people are betting on one side of a game, this will cause the line to move as the bookmaker adjusts the line downwards, in order to balance out the action. In doing this, the bookmaker will take a small cut of the profits. Don't aim for the heavens in your winning percentage; if you have a 55% winning percentage, you are comfortably going to make sure. If you have a 60%+ winning percentage, you'll be printing money.
